Burnley host Everton at Turf Moor in the English Premier League this weekend. The home team are still in search of their first win of the season, being the only side on England’s top four divisions to be winless. Goals have been hard to come by for The Clarets with just four scored in eight Premier league games and Sean Dyche will be concerned.
Everton, on the other hand have been enduring an inconsistent start to the season so far, after Roberto Martinez’s exploits last season, suffering mainly due to defensive problems. A telling statistic is that Everton have made the second most individual errors leading to goals this season, after QPR. Martinez must know that this is criminal for a team harboring ambitions of finishing in the top six.
It is a surprise to many how Burnley are not bottom of the Premier League despite no wins this season. If Sean Dyche has any hopes of retaining his team’s Premier League status, then their home form will be crucial. Their four home fixtures so far have produced two defeats and two goalless draws.
For Everton, Steven Naismith, James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Leon Osman should be back after missing out in midweeks Europa League trip to Lille. Kevin Mirallas and John Stones remain out.
Dean Marney remains a doubt for Burnley while Steven Reid and Michael Keane should be back. Danny Ings is slowly working back to full fitness.
The Toffees will be looking to continue to build on from last weekend’s win against Aston Villa and with Ross Barkley’s return to the starting lineup this should prove to be an easy win for the away side.
